Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum
by Judi “Scoop” McWilliams
Port Colborne is a great community to visit.
There is much to see and do?
One of the attractions we liked visiting, is the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum.
This museum is a wonderful place to explore.
The museum was conceived in 1974 by a group of Port Colborne citizens.
Since then, over 18,000 artifacts have been donated!
The museum contains a number of unique period buildings to explore.
Each filled with memories of Port Colborne’s past.
The grounds of the Port Colborne Museum are beautifully maintained.
All adding to its charm.
While visiting the museum, we were fortunate to have 2 staff to show us around.
Their presence certainly made the tour much more memorable!
As we toured, we were amazed be the size and the quality of the artifact collection!
A lot of the museum’s collection is housed in the main visitor centre.
It was hard to take in everything on display, there was so much to see.
Exploring the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum gave a much greater appreciation of Port Colborne’s awesome past!
When you are in the Niagara Region, you should make sure to visit Port Colborne and the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum.
